Using Text Messaging For Marketing

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 10 years or so, you’ll no doubt be aware of the popularity of text messaging and SMS in general. It’ll come to no surprise then that text messaging is also becoming a popular marketing tool. Almost everyone has a mobile or cell phone these days which in turn gives marketers wishing to utilise the cell phone and SMS a huge reach.

There are numerous companies offering mobile marketing services these days but one firm that springs to mind is Cellit Mobile Marketing. These guys offer what appears to be the complete solution with their numerous programs and packages aimed at all corners of the market. Their applications such as Cellit Studio and House4Cell are some of the best on the market when it comes to marketing via your mobile phone.

The House4Cell application in particular is one that immediately caught my eye as it is aimed at a particular sector in which I hold a lot of interest. Real Estate. The software allows you to provide information to buyers directly and also includes additional features such as photos and lead capturing services.

Of course, mobile marketing isn’t just limited to text messages and SMS. The mobile or cell phone can also obviously allow marketing via voice (be it automated or otherwise) and also via WAP / Web Based applications. Lots of firms these days are combining their existing web presence with mobile and WAP based micro sites to get more and more exposure on peoples cell phones. This coupled with sms based marketing is becoming extremely popular i.e. sending the end user a message with a clickable link via SMS which then opens a small micro site on their mobile / cell phone.

Another service I am a particular fan of is the Cellit Alerts service. I expect there have been times when you’ve needed to mass text / sms a group of people about a certain event etc and not had the resources to do it. The Cellit Alert service provides a way to facilitate this making it easy for companies to mass text a large group of people all at the same time with very little effort. The possibilities with this system are obviously endless.

Mobile marketing in general has lots of opportunities, probably more so than television and paper based marketing due to its abilitiy to reach a vast amount of the population.
