Conference calling has really took off over the past few years, mainly due to the technology available to businesses and the costs involved. Hosting conference calls used to only be possible if you had a large, complex and often expensive phone system but that is no longer the case. There are numerous third party providers popping up on the market that allow you to host a full conference call via their own system. The way this works is quite simple. You either pre-pay for a set amount of minutes (in a similar way you would with a pay as you go mobile phone) or you take out a contract which includes free monthly usage minutes. You can simply arrange a time with the other participants of the call and all dial into the system. Obviously you will not always have a dedicated call number to yourself, so the meeting will be assigned a pin code which when entered, places all participants of the call in the same group.

Due to the amount of calls that the third party providers are hosting, the costs involved are legible as they effectively have one complex system and resell a portion of it on a month to month basis. This also opens up doors to companies who wants to appear professional and hold conference calls but have been previously unable to do so.

In my day job, we have to support a large amount of clients using our software and have been considering outsourcing our telephone support to a third party for some time now. The help desk of any company is the after sales front line and should always be of the highest quality. There is nothing worse than calling a company for support and not getting the answers you desire to your technical queries. This can be extremely stressful. We feel that by outsourcing our help desk services we can provide customers with support of the highest quality as and when they need it.

There are several companies that offer excellent help desk outsourcing solutions that enable companies to move their entire support operation to a third party that have the necessary training in your product and service, but not only that, they have the training on how to deal with customers / clients in a relaxing, stress free way to convey the information they desire.

We all need to use a help desk from time to time, we’re not all experts at everything and if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to speak with someone who knows what they’re doing at the end of the line.

Having just purchased an iPhone 3G (unlocked, sorry Apple), I am almost starting to regret it. I was a Blackberry user for many years and kinda liked using the QWERTY keyboard - even if it did look stupid. Now, I am not a serial texter, nor do I use my iPhone 3G as an “Internet Communication Device” often - but I just can’t get used to this touch screen keyboard. I almost find myself impressed when it matches the letter I want when I press it as opposed to it actually being practical. I mean, say you’re writing a sentence. Do you guys with iPhones write the sentence, as you would say as on your computer (or Blackberry) or do you find yourself spending twice the time writing sentence only to be happy that it has matched your key presses / touches as opposed to actually completing what you want to say?

I must say, I think the reason that the networks are charging such a high price for the iPhone is because they know that it is going to wipe out text messaging / SMS globally, well, not quite, the geeks will still use it but I know my girlfriend with her nails has no chance. I think the networks are losing / going to lose a vast amount of money in the SMS market with these devices. I know I personally put off doing a text to someone if I am in two minds, purely because I don’t have the time to key / delete / key / delete / key / key space

Sorry, bit of a rant! I love my iPhone 3G, I just look at it on my desk looking all pretty - hoping nobody texts me wanting a reply.

From time to time, we call have to call different countries. I personally have a lot of contacts in different countries and I am always looking for ways to call them, cheaper than I am doing currently - which sometimes proves difficult! One method I have been trying recently is using International Phone Cards. Whilst I have never been the biggest fan of using phone cards, the savings these days are unreal and with the features included from the newer / more popular phone card providers, it’s so much easier.

One of the better providers I have found is nobelcom calling cards. These guys have some of the best international calling card rates on the Internet allowing anyone to call any country for a fraction of the price compared to their mobile or home/office landline fone. There is also great support available with all of their packages and options.

I expect some of you may be skeptical, as I was, about trying out calling cards for the first time but it really is simple. NobelCom offer free phone cards so you can try out the services before purchasing your own calling cards, so if you’ve been considering giving them a go, now is your chance, and for free!

We here at Phone ID have recently started using calling cards to call our friends and family back home and have saved a vast amount of money in doing so. You can enjoy prepaid phone cards too as there are now a large amount of companies offering free calling cards! Yes, you heard us correctly, you can now get FREE! calling cards. You will be able to call certain destinations, for free, for 15 minutes. We appreciate that you will probably want to talk for longer than 15 minutes, but if you’re not familiar with phone cards or calling cards, it’s worth trying it out, just for the experience so you can see how easy it really is. We think the main reason that people are not already saving money is because they don’t have the knowledge of how to make use of such services. The various free trials around enable you to do this and speak with your friends at the same time!

Calling cards are not just for individuals wanting to call their partners or children, there are also a wide range of corporate calling cards on the market that are specifically aimed at the business user. The corporate accounts available for calling cards offer unbelievable discounts making calling friends, family and business contacts even cheaper. Corporate accounts also contain the usual features such as pinless dialing, auto recharge and 24/7 customer service.

Anyway, if you often have to call long distances, give the 15 minute trial ago and we guarantee you will be using calling cards here on in.

As we all know, Christmas is fast approaching us and we will all no doubt be stuck for gifts for our friends, family and colleagues. We have been giving it a lot of thought and come up with the perfect gift, calling cards! As a lot of the people who work in our building have family / relatives abroad, we thought this would make the perfect gift and will fit nicely inside a Christmas card!

Calling Cards are a perfect gift and a great way to save money if you frequently call abroad or know someone who does. There are numerous calling card companies on the Internet, one of the most popular companies being Banana Call. This company offers some of the best Banana Call Phone Cards we have seen and have a wide range of options and features such as pinless dialing, nationwide access and automatic recharge calling cards - for those times where you simply want to recharge your card instead of buying a new phone card, getting a new pin etc. We all know that can be quite frustrating.

We appreciate that not everyone are familiar with calling cards and the savings involved but believe us when we tell you, the savings are immense and with the introduction of pinless dialing, making a call is just as easy as using your home or office phone!

We here at phoneid.org are all for cheaper calls. All of the team have had some of the largest mobile phone bills known to man over the years, costs that we and I expect you can do without! So what do we do? Do we simply not call each other, SMS or try and find mobile operators with vast Free SMS or off peak minute tariffs? This might be an option, but sure enough, we’ve all tried these and we all find that texts aren’t always practical and neither is calling after 7pm.

So… what are our alternatives? The one that immediately comes to mind is Skype. If you’re not familiar with Skype, you should be. For those readers not in the know, Skype is a piece of software that allows users to make telephone calls via the Internet. Skype is cross-platform software that makes use of VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol technology.

Safe in the knowledge that all of my visitors now know what Skype is (hopefully), I have to ask, is it really worth it? Sure, we can save a lot of money using Skype but is it actually good enough? I have had numerous people put the phone down on me as a result of the call quality being low (admittedly this was in the early days) but still, can it equal the call quality of a land line to land line call? We here at Phone ID don’t think so. With that said, Skype to Skype calls are free, so if you just want to sit speaking for hours on end to your girlfriend on the other side of the world, it’ll suit you perfect. It also has a nice instant messaging application to keep you entertained whilst the call quality increases.

There are numerous VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol systems surfacing these days and fast gaining ground on traditional mobile and land-line providers. One of the up and coming systems is Asterisk (although it has been in development for 10 years). Asterisk is a software version of a PBX and like all PBX systems, users can call each other and users of any of the other connected networks such as PSTN and more recently VoIP. Asterisk due to its open source / GPL core has many features and is continuously in development worldwide. There are a large number of providers and supporters of the Asterisk software due to its popularity. Asterisk Phone Systems Toronto offer full support of this service enabling traditional analog telephones to connect to an Asterisk installation as well as the fast emerging VoIP networks.

Of course, there are numerous providers of VoIP services around the globe. The VoIP technology coupled with the fast increasing usage of the Internet in general has added to its rapid growth, mainly due to the ability to connect to existing PBX systems and offer calls at a much lower rate than the traditional mobile / land-line providers. Skype and Vonage are good examples of this and their usage figures are increasing by the minute, purely due to the cost savings involved.

Mention ringtones, and you will always get a few teens to tell you their favourite ringtones, from their favourite singers and cartoons to funny voices. Ringtones are the latest trend. It is almost like fashion, where you have a new season coming up with new clothes and styles. Ringtones offer the latest and newest collection, all the time. The best part of it is you can download ringtones for free, so why pay for them? Everyone loves freebies, so there is no reason why you should not download the ringtones when they are available for free.

For those who have no idea about what ringtones they like, the best you can do it to download complimentary ringtones. Complimentary ringtones are usually different and unique. Not everyone wants to have the same ringtones as everyone else, so there are some companies coming up with special ringtones especially for an individual. You can get some of them for free, while others you might have to pay for. Otherwise, you can consider cell phone realtones. Realtones are from the original source (that is, the song/s) and they are in the mp3 format so you get better quality of ringtones. Most of the realtones are the latest songs from the hottest singers and bands. Of course, like others, you can get these for free as well, from some of the mobile phone sites.

Cell phones are a convenient way to talk to people anytime, anywhere. But who wants to be strapped down to all of those contracts with enormous fees for canceling before the end of the two years? With a prepaid phone, you will be able to have the freedom to call people anytime you want to, without having to stick to a regular monthly plan.

This is also convenient for people who do not use their cell phones often. Instead of paying a certain amount per month in order to get service when you want it, you can pay for a specific amount of minutes and never pay for anything again until your minutes run out. This also works for people who may talk a lot one month, and very little the next. Rollover plans could cover you, but why not just go with a phone you can control?

And with a prepaid phone, there are no charges for switching to a different type of plan, like there is for contract agreements. And prepaid phones come in many styles, shapes, and colors to match your personality as well as your style. So there is no reason to be tied down to a contract any longer.
