Conference calling has really took off over the past few years, mainly due to the technology available to businesses and the costs involved. Hosting conference calls used to only be possible if you had a large, complex and often expensive phone system but that is no longer the case. There are numerous third party providers popping up on the market that allow you to host a full conference call via their own system. The way this works is quite simple. You either pre-pay for a set amount of minutes (in a similar way you would with a pay as you go mobile phone) or you take out a contract which includes free monthly usage minutes. You can simply arrange a time with the other participants of the call and all dial into the system. Obviously you will not always have a dedicated call number to yourself, so the meeting will be assigned a pin code which when entered, places all participants of the call in the same group.
Due to the amount of calls that the third party providers are hosting, the costs involved are legible as they effectively have one complex system and resell a portion of it on a month to month basis. This also opens up doors to companies who wants to appear professional and hold conference calls but have been previously unable to do so.
