Having just purchased an iPhone 3G (unlocked, sorry Apple), I am almost starting to regret it. I was a Blackberry user for many years and kinda liked using the QWERTY keyboard - even if it did look stupid. Now, I am not a serial texter, nor do I use my iPhone 3G as an “Internet Communication Device” often - but I just can’t get used to this touch screen keyboard. I almost find myself impressed when it matches the letter I want when I press it as opposed to it actually being practical. I mean, say you’re writing a sentence. Do you guys with iPhones write the sentence, as you would say as on your computer (or Blackberry) or do you find yourself spending twice the time writing sentence only to be happy that it has matched your key presses / touches as opposed to actually completing what you want to say?
I must say, I think the reason that the networks are charging such a high price for the iPhone is because they know that it is going to wipe out text messaging / SMS globally, well, not quite, the geeks will still use it but I know my girlfriend with her nails has no chance. I think the networks are losing / going to lose a vast amount of money in the SMS market with these devices. I know I personally put off doing a text to someone if I am in two minds, purely because I don’t have the time to key / delete / key / delete / key / key space
Sorry, bit of a rant! I love my iPhone 3G, I just look at it on my desk looking all pretty - hoping nobody texts me wanting a reply.
